Grealish rose through the youth ranks to Aston Villa’s first-team in 2013/14 and has gone on to make 195 appearances in all competitions, scoring 30 goals with 37 assists. Since Villa were relegated from the Premier League in 2016, the 25-year-old has come into his own.

  • 2016/17 (Championship): 31 games, 5 goals, 5 assists
  • 2017/18 (Championship): 30 games, 3 goals, 6 assists
  • 2018/19 (Championship): 34 games, 6 goals, 8 assists
  • 2019/20 (Premier League): 36 games, 8 goals, 6 assists
  • 2020/21 (Premier League): 7 games, 4 goals, 6 assists

Grealish has been one of the league’s top performers this season as is now starting in competitive games for England, so his stock couldn’t be higher. Unfortunately, the playmaker won’t come cheap. The Daily Star say he has a £70m asking price and Villa have no obligation to accept less.

Grealish has five years remaining on his deal and the Midlands outfit aren’t short of cash with billionaire owners, so we may have to break our transfer record to bring him to the Etihad Stadium. The 25-year-old has created more chances (19) than Riyad Mahrez (9) and Raheem Sterling (8) this season, so he’d improve our squad.
