Baah has made 18 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring three goals with two assists – more than Gabriel Jesus has managed in the Premier League (3 goals, 1 assist) – but The Athletic revealed it has been a long road to get to the Football League.

The German-born wide-man was released by Crystal Palace at the age of 14 and joined an independent youth academy in London – Kinetic.

Baah would spent two years at the academy, impressing his coaches for his ability to beat a man and contribute goals, so it was expected that he would get a professional deal.

He had a brief stint at Isthmian League side Whyteleafe FC and was outstanding in his only game, but he ended up joining Rochdale permanently in 2019. Baah has gone on to make 28 appearances for the League One outfit and will see the season out at Spotland before moving to City.

The Guardian say a pre-contract deal was agreed as he’s a free agent in a matter of months, but City will pay a fee to Rochdale. The Sky Blues could loan Baah out to a Championship club next season.
