Man City’s 6ft defender will return to face Burnley on Saturday

|

Manchester City have confirmed that Kyle Walker will return to face Burnley on Saturday. The 30-year-old was rested in our Champions League win over Olympiacos on Wednesday but should be in line to start against the Clarets.

In Walker’s absence, we opted for Joao Cancelo at right-back, but the 6ft England international has started every Premier League game this season, so he should immediately get his place back.

Walker has made 13 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring one goal. He’s been a regular at right-back domestically and in Europe, keeping Cancelo on the bench, so he’ll be key at the Etihad as we look to turn our form around.

After eight games, we find ourselves 13th in the table and eight points adrift of leaders Tottenham. Guardiola has a clean bill of health ahead of our meeting with Burnley, however, so we’ve given ourselves the best chance for success. Benjamin Mendy, Aymeric Laporte, Ruben Dias and Walker should make up our back-four.

Kevin De Bruyne has also returned from his rest in midweek and should slot back into midfield alongside Rodri and Bernardo Silva. Raheem Sterling will hope to dethrone Riyad Mahrez from the starting eleven and Gabriel Jesus should lead the line as Sergio Aguero still isn’t 100% fit.
