Man City-linked player says he has ‘some decisions to make’ on future after Euro 2020

Manchester City and Juventus have been linked with a move for Manuel Locatelli, but the 23-year-old has no desire to decide his future until the 2020 European Championships have finished.

Locatelli has impressed at Sassuolo since his permanent arrival in 2019 and is now expected to play an important role in the Italian national team this summer. Should he shine at the Euros, his stock will rise even higher.

In quotes reported by Yahoo Sport, Locatelli said: “It is just gossip. There is such an important competition to play and I am focused on that. It would be a waste of time to think about that, even though I know that after the Euros will have some decisions to make.”

The defensive-midfielder joined Sassuolo on a season-long loan in 2018 and signed for the Serie A outfit in the summer of 2019 after impressing at the Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore.

He’s gone on to make a total of 99 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals with 11 assists, and has been one of the best ball-winners in the division – 81 tackles, 51 interceptions and 58 clearances in 34 Serie A games last season.

City need a replacement for Fernandinho as he’s in the eve of his career, but Juventus’ interest in Locatelli may throw a spanner in the works. Nevertheless, neither club will know where they stand until the Euros are over.
