Manchester City Loanee Update: Patrick Roberts (Girona FC) – Report

During his two Celtic loan stints, Patrick Roberts certainly made a name for himself while doing himself proud by filling up his trophy cabinet during his 79 appearances.

He was adored by the Parkhead faithful, and he was known to impress and woo the club officials enough for them to make an official bid to take the youngster north of the border on a permanent basis.

For reasons unknown, probably because he didn’t want to remain in Scotland, the England born left-footed winger decided to try his luck elsewhere.

Now 21 the promising youngster joined Manchester City’s books after joining from Fulham during the 2014/15 summer transfer window for an undisclosed fee, rumoured to be in the region of £12million. And with little chance of ever making Pep Guardiola’s first team squad, Patrick now finds himself on another season-long loan at Manchester City’s Spanish club partner Girona FC.

Still to score during his five La Liga games Girona boss Eusebio Sacristan is known to be impressed by Patrick’s dedication and work ethic.

With two years left on his Manchester City contract, how many more time can we expect the club to loan him out?

I would suggest MCFC will be looking to recoup some of their initial outlay and sell him for a tidy sum next summer.
