According to 90min, Manchester City are considering a move for Marten de Roon next summer and may have to battle Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan for his signature. The 29-year-old has impressed at Atalanta but could be on his way out of the Stadio di Bergamo for the right price.
90min say de Roon wants a return to the Premier League, three years after returning to Italy from England. The Netherlands international made 36 appearances in all competitions for Middlesbrough (2016/17) but ended up back to Atalanta just a year after leaving.
He’s made a total of 187 appearances for La Dea (2015-2016) (2017 – present), scoring 11 goals with 12 assists and has been praised by Pep Guardiola’s rival Jose Mourinho. The Tottenham manager called de Roon ‘phenomenal’ after his Manchester United team faced Middlesbrough in 2017, so we might have to fend off Spurs’ interest too.
De Roon has made 11 Serie A appearances this season, averaging a tackle (23) or interception (25) every 19 minutes. The 29-year-old has made more tackles than Rodri (21) and Kevin De Bruyne (19), so would he be a good addition to the City ranks?
