I’m not so sure I’ve read of any firm interest we had in Estudiantes attacking midfielder Joaquin Correa, but somebody will put me right if I missed it.

Anyway it’s being reported that last week City felt they were leading the race for the talented 20 year old who has already been likened to Juan Sebastien Veron, and it was expected we would be tabling a bid in the region of £8million but that never happened and it’s said that we took too long to secure the deal, and he has now completed a move to Sampdoria.

Their official website carries a statement saying that:

‘Estudiantes sell Correa for 10 million dollars, the deal has been completed with Sampdoria of Italy.’

The fee is said to be in the region of £6.4million and was actually overseen by Veron who is their Sporting Director apparently according to reports, and Sampdoria was the club he first signed for in Europe in his playing career.

Again whether this is just a press link I don’t know, but the name isn’t that familiar to me – then again we’re linked with that many players easy to forget a few usually isn’t it.

There are even vaguer reports today saying that we tried to sign 18 year old Musa Mohammed according to agent Eddie Duah. With that said, Duah doesn’t name Manchester City he just says a ‘top club’ in the EPL but apparently the players Nigerian agent had other ideas so he backed out.

Ultimately, I think silly season is already with us as it’s also being reported that Matija Nastasic is also a target for AC Milan which I’m convinced isn’t a new one.
