Man City 5-3 Monaco Highlights & Post Match

Match Stats

Player Ratings

Willy Caballero 8
Made a blunder or two, one of which led to Falcao’s goal. Having said that his penalty save and overall statue impressed. City’s number one keeper by a country mile.

Bacary Sagna 5.5
He was run ragged but managed, in the main to keep pace with Monaco’s blistering waves of attack.

John Stones 6
Mixed fortunes and exposed by Falcao to make it 3-2. But to make amends he did score his first ever Champions League goal. Work in progress but signs show he’s still learning.

Nicolas Otamendi 4
Not quick enough to keep up with younger players and struggled to keep up with Mbappe. He’ll be off in the summer.

Fernandinho 5
Forced to play out of position, again and partially responsible for two Monaco goals, both of which came from down his side. Play him in his normal midfield role please Pep.

Yaya Toure 6
I’m sure Pep was pleased with his performance but his legs are going and although his brain is as fresh and as lively as any youngster his body is beginning to show signs of age. Another one who is expected to make way for younger blood in the summer. Great servant nevertheless.

Raheem Sterling 8.5
Boy wonder did it again by dribbling past defenders, with ease, scoring the first goal and set up Aguero for City’s second. I love watching him.

Kevin De Bruyne 6.5
Not his best game – seemed off the pace, on occasion but his two corners brought the third and fourth goals and so it wasn’t all bad.

David Silva 8
Merlin does what Merlin does and that’s leave the opposition trailing in his wake – ran rings round Monaco all night. I’m struggling to keep up with superbatives for this genius.

Leroy Sane 9
My favourite player and has been for several weeks. He couldn’t miss his goal but deserved his moment. Plays like a demon with grace and style. He is still a youngster but if he continues to improve like he’s doing then he’ll be one of the most complete players on planet earth.

Sergio Aguero 8.9
Should have had a penalty but booked for diving – referee got this one completely wrong. Scored two goals, did brilliantly to set up another and in doing so looked lethal. I would have named him MOTM but Leroy did enough for me.

Pablo Zabaleta 6
Replaced Fernandinho (62 mins) and in doing so shored up the defence. Why didn’t Pep pick him from the beginning?

Fernando
(For Aguero 86) No time to mark.
(For Sterling 89) No time to mark.

Manager Rating
Pep Guardiola – the TV camera’s showed him at his best. His emotions ran wild and so did mine.
