Manchester City has released Scott Kay, Shaleum Logan, James Poole (now at Hartlepool), Andrew Tutte and Javan Vidal.

The club are also on the verge of scrapping their reserve team and instead concentrate their time and effort on what’s called an Elite Development Squad, a side of mainly under-21s in the Barclays Premier Reserve League North.

In addition the club will also enter the Nextgen Series. This new Champions League-style U19s tournament which starts in 2011-12 will hopefully see City develop even more young players in preparation for the first team thus avoid spending millions of pounds on foreign mercenaries.

More information regarding the Nextgen Series can be found here.
