Man City’s ‘world-class’ star could sign pre-contract with Barca, player ‘looking for a way out’

Sergio Aguero is out of contract at Manchester City this summer and has spoken about a desire to return to Independiente when he leaves the Sky Blues, but Mundo Deportivo says he’s been offered to Barcelona and could sign a pre-contract deal at the Camp Nou.

The 32-year-old has been offered a new deal by City, but he’s not close to putting pen to paper on an extension and will be a free agent in a matter of months. Mundo Deportivo say the ‘world-class’ star is ‘looking for a way out’ of City, so he might be open to their alleged interest.

Aguero has made nine appearances in all competitions this season, scoring two goals. The Argentine international has spent most of the campaign sidelined with a knee injury, hamstring injury and coronavirus, so it would be a bad way to go out of Etihad Stadium.

Aguero’s last outing in a City shirt came on January 3 and saw him make a four-minute cameo in a 3-1 win over Chelsea. He should return in February after self-isolating and will hope for a better second half fo the season than his first.

The 32-year-old boasts 256 goals and 73 assists in 379 games since joining the Sky Blues from Atletico Madrid in 2011, winning four Premier League titles, five League Cups and one FA Cup. It will be sad when Aguero eventually does depart, but City are trying to keep him.

Time will tell what the striker decides, however…
