Report: Man City man ‘in demand’ as PL rivals ‘enter race’ for signature, 7+ clubs interested

Sergio Aguero will be a free transfer at the end of June and the Daily Star say he’s ‘in demand’ with a lot of clubs. Everton are the latest side to ‘enter the race’ for the 32-year-old, but the report concedes they may struggle to match his lofty wage demands.

Everton are now battling Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds United, Barcelona and Inter Milan for Aguero. Former side Atletico Madrid have been linked with a move too.

The Daily Star note that Aguero’s £240k-per-week wages may prove a stumbling block for some, however. Everton’s highest-earner Bernardo takes home £120k-per-week, so they may not shatter their wage structure for Aguero’s sake.

Carlo Ancelotti will have Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison, Moise Kean and potentially Josh King next season, so they won’t be short in attack. But even if Aguero doesn’t end up at Goodison Park, he is open to staying in England.

That being said, Barcelona are favourites to procure his signature. Lionel Messi is Aguero’s teammate for Argentine and might be able to convince him to the Camp Nou. Barca are a big club too, so few players turn them down if they make an official approach.
