Report: Man City ‘still crave’ £127.6m-rated 147-goal player dubbed the ‘future of football’

Manchester City are on the hunt for a new striker as Sergio Aguero is leaving at the end of the season and Le Parisien (h/t Sport Witness) say they ‘still crave’ Kylian Mbappe.

City appeared to give up on the 22-year-old to focus on Erling Haaland and Harry Kane, but it seems they’d still like to lure the ‘future of football’ to the Etihad Stadium in the coming months.

Aguero has scored 257 goals and made 73 assists in 384 appearances in all competitions for City (Transfermarkt), so he leaves big shoes to fill. Mbappe has scored 147 goals and made 75 assists in 220 games for AS Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain (Transfermarkt), so he does come close to the Argentine.

The French international won’t come cheap, however, as PSG may ask for up to €150m (£127.6m) for his signature. Whether City can realistically match that valuation remains to be seen, as Pep Guardiola recently admitted his side don’t have disposal income to sign any striker in Aguero’s stead.

Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also showing an interest in Mbappe, so City have stiff competition to bring him to England too.
