The 2018/19 EFL Cup, (nowadays known for sponsorship reasons as the Checkatrade Trophy) draw took place earlier this afternoon.

Manchester City’s EDS, due to cup competition rules will play ALL of their Group D ties away.

The draw

The exact dates and times are yet to be confirmed. However, Matchday 1 will commence on Monday 3 September 2018.

Group stages info

Clubs will be awarded 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw.

In the event of a drawn game (after 90 minutes), a penalty shootout will be held with the winning team earning an additional point.

The top two teams will progress to the Knockout Stage.

TV coverage within the UK

Sky Sports has the exclusive rights to broadcast live Checkatrade Trophy TV games within the UK.

Crewe Alexandra – League Two

Shrewsbury Town – League One

Tranmere Rovers – League Two

Player restrictions

Manchester City, including other Premier League U21 sides taking part, has been restricted to fielding two players over the age of 21 and more than 40 first-team appearances.

Last season’s winners were Lincoln City.
