He was the referee for the 2014 FA Community Shield between Arsenal and Manchester City. The FA Cup holders Arsenal won the match 3-0. Two days later, he was an additional assistant at the 2014 UEFA Super Cup in Cardiff.

So far this season Oliver has officiated six Premier League fixtures, one Champions League match and one World Cup qualification game between Sweden and Bulgaria.

Overall, Michael has brandished 33 yellow and no red cards.
