Who remembers when Glasgow Rangers made the UEFA Cup final a couple of seasons ago? Who remembers the carnage and who remembers running battles in Manchester’s City centre.

Last seasons Scottish Premier League winners, Rangers have kindly offered Manchester City a pre-season friendly at Ibrox on either Tuesday August 4 or Wednesday August 5, depending on the outcome of the UEFA Champions League third-round qualifying draw at which Glasgow rivals Celtic will discover their opponents and venue.

The game will undoubtedly be a tense affair especially as Walter Smith’s side will be keen to show just how good Rangers actually are. Yeah, right!

No doubt City fans will be eager to display their colours with pride, walk proud with their heads held high, but most of all, show the Blue side of Glasgow just how to behave.

Rangers boss Walter Smith told the media…

‘Manchester City have a squad packed with quality, and this match will give us another good test ahead of the new SPL season.’

‘I know our fans will enjoy watching players of the calibre of Robinho, Gareth Barry and Roque Santa Cruz and it should be an entertaining game.’

Message To Rangers FC From Vital Man City

Watch, learn, warm to the occasion and then enjoy the rest of the season playing the likes of Falkirk, Kilmarnock and Dundee United. Wow, Ibrox should be filled to the rafters. I bet fans canna wait.
