Rumours currently swirling around Manchester suggest Sunday’s Premier League referee between City and United, Anthony Taylor supports Manchester United. These rumours are unfounded and untrue. The 40-year-old Wythenshawe born official is a massive Altrincham FC (National League North) fan.
Conflict of interest
At the beginning of every season, officials must register IE complete forms with the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) about who they support and the addresses where they reside.
Based on information disclosed will depend on how the Premier League appoint the respective match day officials. In other words and for obvious reasons the EPL does not want a conflict of interest between the referee and a specific club.
