Mancio: We Can Be Heroes

Roberto Mancini has issued a defiant statement of intent inside 48 hours to City’s biggest FA Cup showdown in three decades…

‘The first trophy is the hardest but it is time for Manchester City to win something. All my players should understand very well that this is a big moment for us.’

Yet City’s boss urged those players to keep their feet on the ground when they walk out at Wembley to face the seemingly unstoppable rags:

‘I know we have improved a lot. The important thing is that we do not go there and think about the enormity of the game. We cannot afford for our heads to get full with the occasion.’

And of Monday night’s disaster on Merseyside?

‘When you build a new team you can always lose matches, like we did against Liverpool. It is the first time in a year that we played like that. And it was better to happen at Liverpool than on Saturday.’
