In a frank and open interview with The Sunday Times, City boss Roberto Mancini, currently in Italy caring for his sick father, has declared his ‘good feeling’ for the coming season

The suave City supremo is clearly in no mood to entertain the by now repeated droaning mantra from numerous quarters that City are either ‘ruining football’ or ‘buying success” which has lessened somewhat this summer:’

‘…Manchester City spend a lot of money, but last year, two years ago, three years ago, all the teams – Manchester United, Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool – spent a lot of money, no? Because if you want a good team you must buy good players….all the teams that play in the Premier League spend a lot of money on players. This is normal…we want to invest in Manchester City because we want to try to improve our team.’

Meanwhile, the message of ambition is clear to Planet Blue from our City scarfed leader going into the final two weeks before the big kick off at White Hart Lane:

‘I think that I’m a good manager. I know football very well and think that I can win with Manchester City…I think we will win something for sure. I don’t know if it will be the Premier, the Europa League or the FA Cup.’

Hinting at further signings he concluded:

‘I want to finish in the transfer market before I can say if we can win the title or not. But I have a good feeling this year. This year is important. This year we must change our history.’
