The Premier League has appointed Martin Atkinson to take charge of tomorrow’s game at the Etihad between Manchester City and Arsenal.

Martin Atkinson


Based in Leeds the 45-year-old began his Football League refereeing career, as an assistant in 1995. Five years later he was promoted to the Premier League list of referee’s pyramid.

Born in Bradford Mr Atkinson has been the man-in-the-middle for notable matches including the FA Community Shield and the finals of the FA Trophy, Football League Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Europa League.

Season 2016/17

Out of a total of 15 matches Martin has not been in charge of any Manchester City games. However he’s no stranger to digging out his cards. In fact he’s brandished a total of 66 yellow and one red.
