MCFC Scouting Network

Even though Ben Thatcher’s questionable contribution to Manchester City has ended, there will be a lot of us nervously eyeing the news pages amid headlines shrieking that our best players are about to jump ship. However, quite how the Grauniad for example, makes a link with Thatcher’s departure heralding ‘an exodus of our finest players’ is beyond me.

Confirmation of our loan acquisition of French second division side Ajaccio’s inexperienced midfielder Djamel Abdoun leaves me bemused. I haven’t read any rave reviews about the lad in France Football and don’t see why a club with an Academy including the likes of Daniel Sturridge needs to bring in a 20 yr old from France.

As a second clear out under SP appears to be underway at MCFC, we need to strengthen the senior squad sharpish.

This begs an important question. Certainly, failure again to bring in some proven top quality will underline exactly where MCFC stands in the Premier League. Seemingly staying up, above all else for the Sky money is the priority message from the board. Increasingly, I am forming the opinion that Stuart Pearce is being asked to perform miracles. He apparantly travels a lot to watch games. He also relentlessly telephones clubs according to reports this morning. So who’s running City’s scouting network, then? I remember Mad Kev bringing in former Northampton Town supremo Graham Carr from Spurs a few years back, but I haven’t heard his name mentioned again. I think we should be told how and where our scouting network operates and under whose leadership.
