Finally some activity to report in the January 2007 transfer window.

Charlton have completed the signing of City left back Ben Thatcher in a deal believed to be in the region of £500,000.

Thatcher will leave the blues for a relegation fight with the Addicks after losing his place in the team for the second time this season.

Stuart Pearce stated that the deal gives him some funds to spend in the transfer market which confirms that City will once again be shopping at Netto.

City also announced today that they are working on a deal to terminate Claudio Reyna’s contract.

Reyna wishes to move back to the States for family reasons and Stuart Pearce claims to be fully behind the move.
‘We are speaking with his representatives about the termination of his contract.

‘It is to do with family reasons, nothing sinister. I can understand the reasons he gave to me.

‘He believes his family has to come before his professional career at this stage.

‘It is a case of working out a deal agreeable to player and club.’

No loss there then and a fortune saved in medical bills.

Kaspar Schmeichel has also left the club today, although in his case just to gain more first team experience.

Schmeichel will move to Scottish outfit Falkirk until the end of the season.
