The breaking news this midweek morning is that City have confirmed to the BBC that Craig Bellamy and Vladimir Weiss have “mild cases” of Swine Flu

Preparations for the important ‘Battle of Bolton’ will be of course affected, although Sparky organised immediate isolation of the ill Blues and will wait to see if they return to training on Thursday. Micah Richards was isolated from the squad with the virus earlier this year but a couple of cases might be a different issue.

In France recently, Olympique Marseille’s annual fight to the death with Paris Saint Germain was controversially postponed in similar circumstances. Some of City’s coaching staff are understood to be sick with Eddie Niedzwiecki off work with an unconfirmed bug.

In other fitness news, Bellamy’s long term knee problems persist but the resurgent Richards is back in training following the twisted knee he sustained in the win over Chelsea.

Wayne Bridge is not so lucky having been sidelined for 6 weeks with the ligament damage he shipped during one bloodthirsty clash. The classy Sylvinho is likely to step in and stake his claim to face the likes of the rags in the weeks to come.
