I would like to take this opportunity to write to you all. We are coming into the New Year which may suggest a fresh start for us, especially for me so let us all move forward with positive thoughts.
A new beginning is just around the corner and I feel this year will be the year of huge surprises, my intuition says things are coming, positive things!
Manchester City are looking stronger than ever – treatment for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is on the verge as in early 2010 they will be going into phase one trials on a potential drug called Utrophin which has shown promise.
Also I would like to mention an event may be coming up at Manchester City again for the annual Carl Action Luncheon which started last year and when I have specific details I will announce later on in the year giving all members plenty of notice giving you all a chance to purchase tickets!
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all you do, the fact you continue to support me shows how much of a good community Manchester City really are despite all the media speculation as Craig Bellamy said ‘As royalty is concerned, the only royal people are the fans who turn up.’
I say every year this may be my last year but I will fight with positively trying to beat the inevitable. I’d like to help make my human life a joyful and meaningful one where I also aim to help others.
My New Year’s resolution is to raise the profile for all those (directly or indirectly) affected by Duchenne and to empower those to make an active impact on society in whichever way they can to show that the limitations of disablement and short life span can be conquered…to achieve the ultimate dream of finding that vital treatment and eventually a cure!
