Regardless of all the takeover talk doing the rounds at the minute there remains a more pressing issue that needs addressing right now.

Stuart Pearce should be relieved of his post as Manchester City manager with immediate effect.

An enormous 77% of those polled on this website believe that the Pearce era should end.

This result comes despite the recent upturn in away form that effectively ensured City’s Premiership safety.

What the club, and manager himself, cannot continue to hide away from is the abysmal home form and standard of football on display.

This current City side stand on the brink of immortality as the lowest ever scoring home side in the history of top division football. That’s not just post 1993 history but the whole history of the game.

That Pearce still believes he is the right man for the job is a measure of his delusions. Given more time he will continue to take this club in one direction only: downwards.

Make no mistake, the style of football Pearce has forced us to endure this season is not a result of any monies he has or hasn’t had to spend; it is a result of his ultra negative coaching style. Give him any amount of money and that will not change.

With the news of the resignation of Sam Allardyce I believe the time to act is now. Forget giving Pearce the reigns to mastermind derby day humiliation and get Big Sam in. Ok his football is at times dull but I have yet to see any side that serves up duller fare than City under Pearce.

We may have new owners in a few weeks but I’m sure they would prefer a genuine manager in charge over a man who has proven he hasn’t got what it takes.
