The 31-year-old Ashington, Northumberland born official has been in charge of 12 Premier League games during which he’s issued 43 yellow and no red cards.

He’s been the man-in-the-middle just the once involving Manchester City this season. This was on Saturday 15 October at the Etihad against Everton. The game finished one a piece and on this occasion he brandished just the two yellows – Everton’s A Williams and S Coleman.

Oliver was introduced to refereeing by his father, Clive, at the age of 14. In 2009 the Oliver family enjoyed a unique refereeing double when father Clive took charge of the League Two play-off final and Michael officiated the next day at the League One play-off final, both of which took place at Wembley Stadium.
