Mike Dean

Based in the Wirral (northwest of England), Dean, who celebrates his 50th birthday in June has been a so-called top-flight referee since the turn of the millennium.

Appointed as a FIFA listed official in 2003 the self-confessed Tranmere Rovers fan was forced to step down from taking charge of international matches ten years from appointment due to reaching the mandatory retirement age of 45.

Season 2017/18

Out of 28 domestic games in charge Mr Dean has brandished 104 yellow and four red cards.

Mike’s cards were in and out of his pocket like grease lightening – AFCB players received five while City received a similar amount, including Raheem Sterling who, on the stroke of 90 minutes saw red.

Put simply, Mike Dean is renowned for being controversial, and so we wait with baited breath to see whether his reputation precedes him.
