James Milner has often been linked with Arsenal but weekend reports said that when, as is looking increasing likely now, he does leave City in the summer it’ll be to sign for Liverpool?

The Mirror claims that Milner is leaving the Etihad Stadium, which as I eluded to above wouldn’t be a major surprise as this has seemed quite likely for a while, in the summer as he goes in search of a ‘fresh challenge’ with ‘sources’, said to be close to him, saying ‘he will leave at the end of the campaign.’

And this challenge will be at Anfield as ‘it’s almost certain he will make the £125,000-a-week switch to Anfield to help plug the gap left by Steven Gerrard’s end-of-season exit to LA Galaxy.’

The chance to play centrally, which Liverpool have ‘promised him’ he will also be able to do, sways it for him to join them?

We’ll see if it is as ‘certain’ as claimed that Milner will end up at Liverpool but despite the fact that we’re so keen to keep him, and I can see why as he offers us plenty – his versatility probably counts against him though, you tend to think that the likelihood of him staying at the Etihad Stadium is becoming lesser and lesser by the week.

If, or should that be when, the 29-year-old does go though this will ‘accelerate a £35million move for another England star – Everton’s Ross Barkley’ by all accounts….
