It’s funny really isn’t it, last week the talk in the media was that James Milner was ‘close to signing a new deal’ and now the tune has changed with his City future in doubt again?

The Telegraph has made the claims that his future at the Etihad is now ‘in jeopardy as contract talks stall’ with the contract talks that started three weeks ago seeing ‘little progress’ made, which they haven’t since last summer when he ‘wasn’t keen to enter into talks.’

In fairness to Milner he just wants to play regular first-team football, if he doesn’t have assurances, as much as you can have this, he’ll have to think long and hard about this next move.

I don’t think I’d be alone in saying that I hope he will sign a new contract because he’s such an important player, I sound like a broken record but I’m not sure all appreciate this, but when all is said and done players do come and go don’t they so if he doesn’t stay he’ll not be the first and he won’t be the last….

Roma and Inter, of course under the management of Roberto Mancini again, are said to have made ‘discreet enquires’ about him already with a possible pre-contract deal in the offing in January if a new contract isn’t signed before.
