Referee Gianluca Rocchi

Born in Florence, the 43-year-old official began his career in 2000 by refereeing 38 matches in three Serie C seasons. Since then he’s climbed up the refereeing pyramid and in 2008 he was added to the FIFA list of officials. In other words he’s qualified to officiate internationals as well as European and domestic matches.

Season 2016/17

During 18 games, which include Serie A, Coppa Italia, UCL and World Cup qualifiers the Italian has shown 71 yellow and an amazing six red cards.

On this occasion he failed to send anyone off, albeit he did show Spurs one yellow (Harry Kane). Two Monaco players also went into the referee’s naughty book.

Could we expect a card-fest?

You bet ya!
