Another year, another summer transfer window and new records being set for spending in the Premier League – we’re getting used to it now aren’t we.
With the Premier League confirming on Friday that a net spend of £665million was committed to by top flight clubs this summer – and that’s with a deal or two still to be accounted for as they were authorised extremely late on – here are the ten most expensive deals in the top tier over the course of the last summer.
Whether this list would’ve changed given the deals that fell through as the deadline window approached and clubs couldn’t get deals over the line is open for speculation, but Arsenal’s £90+ million approach for Thomas Lemar would’ve seen them sit top of the pile and a net spend of £700million would’ve been reached extremely easily.
With a nod to Sky Sports for formulating the list, Romelu Lukaku’s switch from Everton to Manchester United takes top spot, with Chelsea’s deal for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata taking second spot and there are some extremely well known names until we end the top ten deals with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain making the move from Arsenal to Liverpool.
