The 43-year-old FIFA listed ref has officiated 84 domestic, Champions League and World Cup qualification games and in doing so brandished 84 yellow and five red cards.
Multi-millionaire?
When Jonas and his two partners sold a TV company (sports media rights) in which Jonas Eriksson had a 15 % share he became a multimillionaire overnight. His fortune is thought to be in the region of $13m.
Why referee?
Born in Lulea in 1974 the family man currently lives in Sigtuna a small town in Sweden. He continues to referee even though he’s a wealthy man purely for the love of the game. Jonas is considered to be one of the more reliable officials and is highly regarded within the refereeing circles.
