City warmed up for the International Champions Cup against Roma and Madrid next week with a win over our sister club Melbourne City on the Gold Coast on Saturday night.

A decent game, which will prove a good run out ahead of these games against top European opposition – not that Melbourne City are any mugs – was won by Sami Nasri’s cracking strike with a little under five-minutes to play to see us through to a one-nil win in Australia.

I’ll hand you over to Buzz Lightyear, who had this to say….

I was impressed with Nasri’s work rate and took his goal really well, deserved to score.

Navas and Toure also put in a shift, Kompany after a shaky start was cool, Clichy worked tirelessly up and down the left, whilst Fernando held the middle together.

Humphries and Garcia were the pick of the EDS lads, but City did have a recognised Striker out there and did not bring on any more first teamers during the match.

We had a look at Enes Ulna and Zuculini got a run out in the second half, but not enough time to get to grip with the game.

Yaya hit the bar from a free in the first half from his usual spot and we were a bit lucky not to concede, but that is the what it is all about, Melbourne squandered one golden chance and were gifted another by Caballero.

These thoughts, followed by others, were originally posted on the Melbourne City vs Manchester City thread in the VMC forum.

Like I say a good start to pre-season, a good test and a win! A wins always accepted against any side, from any level at any stage of the season with some positives seemingly coming from it.

Others to follow on from these match summary thoughts from Buzz Lightyear included this snippet, that genuinely made me laugh out loud, from what OziMan posted.

Caballero remains a mystery to me…I have not much confidence in him whatsoever.

As one Aussie commentator said, “looks like Pellers has gone with his Willy instead of his Hart.”

What can you say about that!
