New City kit not a hit

City’s new kit was shown off earlier this week in all its ‘glory’ for the first time and our straw poll indicates that initial reactions are not good.

We asked you ‘ What do you think of the new kit?’ and you responded:

Great: Ordering mine right now: 23%

Not impressed – I hate Coventry! : 64%

Not made my mind up yet: 13%

Twice as many of you were underwhelmed by the new design, which to me has more than a hint of Coventry City about it and at best, looks like a hybrid of last years home and away shirts – obviously a lot of thought and design effort gone in to this one !

Those of you who have checked it out on the online City web-shop, will see a rather uncomfortable-looking Andy Cole sporting the new look and judging by his expression, he probably thinks it’s pretty naff too…. ‘ have I really got to wear that thing next season ? ‘ ….. 🙁

Apart from last year’s home shirt, I think the last few season’s efforts have on the whole been dull, bland and uninspiring. Some of you think we should do an Arsenal for a season and resurrect an old classic; something completely different from the banal variations on a them we’ve had in recent years and having seen the new shirt, I think that’s a cracking idea.

Does anyone know the decision making process for new shirts? Is it just an internal City thing or are fans consulted in any shape or form? I’ve never been invited and know of anyone who has – let us know ?
