Raheem Sterling’s first appearance for City since his move from Liverpool is going to have to wait for Roma or Madrid as it’ll not come against our sister club Melbourne City on Saturday.

You couldn’t say Sterling’s debut is ‘being delayed’ could you as the £49m signing only officially joined us on Tuesday, linking up with the City squad in Australia on Thursday and training with his new teammates for the first time today!

Manuel Pellegrini’s confirmation he’ll not feature for us on the Gold Coast on Saturday isn’t a surprise at all, in fact it would have been a major surprise if he had.

If we’d paid 49p for him let alone £49m after the week we’ve seen unfold, travelling halfway across the world to only just link up with the club you could be asking for trouble throwing him in straight away.

Definitely a wise move all round isn’t it, I’m more than willing to wait for the International Champions Cup against Roma and Madrid for our first glimpse of him in a City shirt.
