Reassurance all round SportCity as The Stretford Bin Man finally reacts to an imminent sixth City signing of the season. We were getting worried about him…

Ageing lieutenants Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes had been left to carry the by now annual rag soundbite fight to the erstwhile liddle ciddy and the old man’s absence from
the drivelfest had become a little disconcerting for Planet Blue.

But he’s back on form following a routine win over a pisspoor Newcastle and bizarrely ‘tached Errol Barton:

‘Over the last two or three years we have seen very wealthy owners become part of football clubs and therefore go on this kamikaze effort to spend their money…it is amazing the amounts of money that are being bandied about in the present-day game. Some people may think it could be dangerous. But if they have that kind of money, they are certainly using it.’

So says the man who repeatedly broke the British transfer record as the rags trampled through the transfer market unchallenged what now seems like many, many years ago.

‘I don’t see it abating…’ he droans on.

‘..the kind of spending we are seeing at the moment will be here for two or three years, until such time as they understand you can’t necessarily achieve all the time by spending.’

Good grief, so far up his own backside has he become when surrounded by fawning, sycophantic hacks and accolytes that he thinks he can predict the future! There’ll be a plenty of takeovers to come, yet, your Lordship.

Now forced through astronomic debt into signing South American unknowns the way City had to with the likes of Matias Vuoso in 2002, Ferguson then continued the relentless media campaign of portraying Manchester united as a paragon of transfer virtue as the clock ticks down on his tenure as manager:

‘Young players develop if you are looking after them properly…how we treat players is important. It is difficult to know what other clubs think…at the moment, this is a young players club.’

That’ll be the same young players then that he abandoned earlier this year in The League Cup through panic as City came up against them in the semi-finals.

And don’t forget, Blues. The quality players that we were told ad nauseam in May that City could never attract just aren’t out there…
