Not The Time For The ‘Hughes Out’ Brigade

Ireland based Manchester City fan, mcfcirish sent us the following.

The dreaded Fulham curse strikes again. 2-0 up at home and within the space of 10 minutes its back to 2 -2. Yet again Roy Hodgson’s men refused to lie down and let City boss them.

However, now is no time to be calling for Hughes’ head and here are some facts as to back up my point:

1: City have been beaten once this season while everyone else in the league has been beaten at least twice.

2: When we go a goal down we are not getting rolled over, for example at the swamp and at the rugby ground…sorry the DW Stadium. Last year we would have been thrashed by the rags had we gone behind so early. As for Wigan, well they have always been a tough team for City to beat.

3: Hughes has bought Premier League experienced, players such as Tevez, Adebayor, Barry etc and moulded them into a unit that seems to be gelling faster / fitter than a lot of people would have thought.

4: Hughes has got the best out of the players who were originally here. Ireland, Petrov and Bridge for example. Now Bridge is the main one for me as I was very negative towards him last year and now I must say he has improved an awful lot.

5: City, with a game in hand are not only fighting for a top 4 place but, and I say it with hushed breath, a title spot. How long has it been since we’ve said that?

Now, don’t get me wrong. Hughes has his faults, for instance playing players out of position being my main criticism, but I think now is the time to be getting behind our manager and show him we, the City faithful still have our trust in him.

So come on lads, get behind the tall handsome Welsh man…no not that way!!
