Manchester City should sign £72m-rated 6ft 3in man to replace Sergio Aguero

|

Sergio Aguero is in the last year of his deal at Manchester City and could leave when his contract expires in 2021. But with only Gabriel Jesus for cover in attack, we’ll need a prolific centre-forward who can make an instant impact next season.

According to Don Balon (h/t Goal), we’re interested in Erling Haaland, but it remains to be seen if we can agree a deal with Borussia Dortmund for the 20-year-old. Haaland is one of the hottest strikers in Europe and would improve our squad, but he won’t come cheap either.

Haaland joined Dortmund on a four-year deal from RB Salzburg in January and has gone on to make 23 appearances in all competitions, scoring 21 goals with five assists.

The 6ft 3in Norweigan international, who boasts six goals in as many games for his country, netted 29 times and made seven assists in 27 games for Salzburg (January 2019 – January 2020) before his switch to the Westfalenstadion, so he’s been on fire in the Bundesliga for nearly two years now.

Aguero has 254 goals and 73 assists from 370 games in his nine years at City, so he won’t be easy to replace. Haaland, however, should be on our radar. The 20-year-old might be pricey with a Transfermarkt valuation of £72m and CIES Football Observatory market value of €90m-€120m (£81.6m-£108.8m), but Haaland is worth it.
