City must get at Bolton from the off tonight and add some steel to the pass and move game that has become the hallmark of The Sven Revolution..

I, like many others, don’t want to see City give give Gary Megson and Bolton a chance to blink, think or even fart in the Reebok League Cup clash.

Anything less than total commitment from City, particularly if Svennis sends the ‘Chelski Eleven’ out to redeem themselves would be totally unacceptable.

Bolton are all at sea in my book, and having installed Megson as manager, giving him his 8th club in 12 years, have sent out a signal that they are in a state of emergency.

They haven’t won for 7 matches and have conceded 12 out of 17 goals this season in the first half. This is why we must fly at them from the off.

However, I’m not sure the full eleven who caved in at Stamford Bridge will represent us tonight.

It looks like Isaksson, Sweden’s number one, lest we forget, will finally get his chance between the sticks tonight.
I know he was injured at the start of the season and Schmeichel and Hart have certainly done their best, but if there is one glaring error by SGE so far this season, I believe it has been in placing too much responsibility on the young goalkeepers. When I look across all the results and our league position, I’d say we got away with it, just.

I would drop Samaras tonight. We need a striker up there who will knock about the opposition defence and Mpenza, if fit, is the man to do that from the options we have. We haven’t seen enough of Bianchi yet to judge his readiness for battle, but he deserves a run out ahead of Samaras if Mpenza does not make it.

If Samaras does start, then surely he finds himself wandering into his last chance saloon at City. Like all our strikers, he needs goals and fast. Could be that a move to a 4-4-2 formation would increase the opportunities for them all.

So let’s see City playing the beautiful game again tonight, keep moving, keep passing and creating chances, but above all else get stuck in from the off.

Enjoy the game.
