Others Can Fill The Yaya Void

Much has been said about Yaya Toure in recent months. His future has been very much up and down with City too but there’s no getting away from the fact that he’s still a key player for us.

As such we’ll miss him against Barcelona tomorrow won’t we!

Manuel Pellegrini, in a press conference ahead of the first leg tie, admitted that he would sooner have him available tomorrow (obviously) than not but we coped without him against Munich and Roma and will do so again as his suspension continues.

‘I always prefer to play with Yaya, he is a very important player and we always play better with Yaya.

‘But we can do well without him because we did so against Bayern and Roma and we have a good squad to replace him.’

Without such a heavy fixture pile up this season he feels that this will make a difference as will our ability to fight, which saw us through to this stage when few thought it possible – admittedly I think some of us also had doubts if we were honest!

‘We never thought that we were out. We always fought to the end and if there is a chance to mathematically do it then this team will always fight, especially at home.

‘We showed personality and quality to qualify against Bayern Munich and this will give us good experience in the Champions League.’

Possession, retaining this and using it well, will be key in this fixture, which could well prove to be a classic over the two-legs as we look to avenge our defeat against them at this stage previously….
