Nevermind bulleting headers into Premier League nets, there is talk in France that City’s improving midfield presence Patrick Vieira may head to the USA later this year…

The excellent bi-weekly, finger on the European footballing pulse France Football magazine ran a headlining feature on Tuesday as to the possibility that World Cup winning Frenchie legends Thierry Henry, Robert Pires and City’s Paddy V may well end up plying their trade in the Major Soccer League.

Villareal’s Pires admits to being tempted and the word in la republique is that Henry and Vieira are too.

In point of fact, the statistic packed publication reveals that Vieira has recently purchased a classy loft apartment near New York’s Central Park in the heart of Manhattan.

Jerome de Bontin, former AS Monaco president who now sits on the board of trustees of the United States Soccer Foundation told FF:

‘Certain players and their agents have contacted me for help in coming to the USA. A good twenty odd.’

de Bontin went on to confirm regarding Henry:

‘His is a good subject. He’s played at Arsenal, Monaco and now Barçelona. He speaks English, French and Spanish and is one of a group of players interesting the Americans. I would not be surprised if he signed a similar MLS contract to that of David Beckham.’

As for Pires and Vieira:

‘You are right, the Americans talk about them.’

Vieira currently holds a contract with The Blues until the end of this season in his bid to lead France to this years World Cup in South Africa. There has been talk around SportCity that City might offer him a one year contract extension depending upon whether or not the club reaches The Champions League.

For his part, the player whose performances at City have steadily improved now he has battled free from Italian injury problems remains professionally focused on his quest with The Citizens. This week’s VMC Man Of The Match poll winner wants that Premier League fourth placed finish:

‘When I arrived I wasn’t physically at the top but I’m getting better. Hopefully I can help the team to achieve what we really want. As a team we are maybe more complete than the others. In every position we’re strong.’
