Report: Man City player ‘could make move away’ after three appearances in six years

|

Patrick Roberts has never nailed down a regular starting place at Manchester City and the Mirror say this might be his final season on their books as a result. The 24-year-old finds himself low down the pecking order and has been frequently loaned out, so the Mirror believe ‘this could be the year… (he)… finally makes a permanent move away’.

Roberts joined City from Fulham in 2015 and has gone on to make five appearances for the U19s, one appearance for the U23s and three for the seniors. His lack of first-team football has led to loans at Celtic (2016-2018), Girona (2018/19), Norwich City (2019), Middlesbrough (2020/21) and Derby county (2021), so a permanent move might be in the offing.

The uncapped Englishman hasn’t featured for City since 2015/16 and finds himself behind Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez, Ferran Torres, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva in the pecking order, so the writing appears to be on the wall. Where Roberts will go is unknown, however, as he hasn’t set the place alight at Boro or Derby this season.

His contract is up in 2022, so he’ll need to be sold this summer for maximum value.
