Stuart Pearce has denied that he faces the sack if City fail to win their next two games.
Speaking on Sky Sports News, Pearce said he fully expected to remain in charge after Saturday’s game at at Middlesbrough.
Pearce also criticised captain Richard Dunne for his public questioning of team spirit and some of the player’s commitment to the club.
Pearce recognised that the supporters aren’t happy at the moment but claimed that the team and himself were hurting just as much and that they had to face it every day; hinting that the supporters should put up and shut up as they only have to endure the suffering on match day.
It still seems to me that Stuart Pearce hasn’t grasped the strength of feeling at this football club.
City’s supporters aren’t just suffering from game to game; they have had enough.
Pearce has managed, with his brand of football, to reduce average attendances by 10,000.
He has managed to persuade generations of Manchester City supporters not to renew season tickets despite prices being frozen.
He has presided over a team that cannot find it within themselves to generate the passion required to compete and manage a shot on target in an FA Cup quarter final.
He claims the players were trying; well in that case they are simply not good enough and they are his players. With that in mind he may want to re-think his claim that he is not the worst manager in this division.
Stuart Pearce’s time is up. If the board and Pearce cannot see that then they should expect the backlash from Blackburn to grow.
To cling on in the hope that we’ll beat the champions and then get something at a ground where we haven’t won in 17 years is folly and likely to drag this club deeper into the mire.
