Pearce shopping abroad again?

I picked up a little snippet from a press conference given by City boss, Stuart Pearce, yesterday.

In it he spoke of his wish to buy British players in the January window but that he would be unable to as they are all simply too expensive. As a result he would have to look to European based players.

Now correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t this all sound similar to this time last season? Whilst British players, such as Dean Ashton, were being touted around for £7 million, City supporters were being told the club couldn’t afford that sort of money. The end result? Well the club went foreign and spent a potential fee of £6 million on Greek superstar Giorgious Samaras whilst Ashton moved to West Ham for £7 million.

Now Sam may become a star in blue, it isn’t happening yet, but can the club really afford to use what resources it has on foreign ‘potential’?

The failure to capture Ashton last season came back to haunt us last season in the FA Cup quarter final. What price on it being SWP this season as the club looks to save a few pounds by buying foreign?
