I wouldn’t have thought Edin Dzeko publicly saying recently reported City target Kevin De Bruyne shouldn’t come to the Etihad Stadium, whilst he might have had a point in many ways with what he said, did him any favours did it?

Dzeko’s likely exit has moved a step closer following comments Manuel Pellegrini is quoted by Sky Sports as saying.

Hardly surprising, I think most of us have expected this, but Pellegrini has admitted for the first time Dzeko’s future could be away from the club.

The Bosnian international remained an unused sub against Roma, strongly linked with him of course, on Tuesday as our International Champions Cup pre-season friendly against the Italian club went to a penalty shoot.

His lack of involvement was clarified by the City manager, who said.

‘Edin didn’t play the last game as it’s not clear if he will continue here but he is still working here with the whole squad.’

Clearly Roma want him, this much has been made clear, but even though Dzeko has suggested himself he doesn’t want to leave something has to give doesn’t it….
