Claims were made earlier this week that contract talks with James Milner had stalled, with the likelihood that he could leave City in the summer, if not January growing.

The confidence remains that the England man will stay at the Etihad though.

New deals were expected to be signed by Joe Hart and Milner, Hart’s signed his but talks with Milner remain ongoing with Manuel Pellegrini telling the media that he’s confident enough that these talks will prove successful in the end.

He said, when asked if he thought he would stay: ‘I think so. There are some differences that can be arranged.

‘We are talking with James. It is not easy for all the players to sign a new contract. There are a lot of things to talk, to decide, discuss. I hope finally James will sign his contract.’

That’s all I’ll say on this as I think I’ve said more than enough on this issue this week….

Pellegrini has again also spoken about his desire to keep Frank Lampard, although it was once again stressed that this isn’t a decision that just City and Lampard can make, it also depends on New York City’s thoughts and feelings on this.
