Speaking following the eight one Vietnam friendly win, manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed that Stevan Jovetic was on his way out of the club.

Quoted by the Official Site in his after game press conference, attention turned to Jovetic following the speculation linking him with a move to Inter Milan and Pellegrini confirmed that he was undergoing a medical with them ahead of a departure.

He also had nothing but good to say about the striker who unfortunately found his time at the club hampered by injuries following his arrival from Fiorentina back in the summer of 2013.

‘Unfortunately Stevan had to go. He’s a very good player – one of the best players I have seen, but for him he had too many injuries and that’s why he couldn’t play too many games in a row. I wish him the best for the future and I’m sure he’ll be a very important player for Inter.’

The 25 year old leaves us having made a total of 18 starting appearances, with a further 25 from the bench but a very impressive goal return of eleven strikes.

He will unfortunately go down as somewhat of a ‘what if’ had he been able to remain fit for us and get that continuity at the club that gave him more regular game time and the confidence players get from that.

The wider press are suggesting a deal will shortly go through for around the £14million mark.
