Manager Manuel Pellegrini has said that he expects Joe Hart and James Milner to sign their contract extensions sooner rather than later now.

Speaking in his pre match press conference, the manager explained.

‘Joe is very close. As you know, Joe wants to stay here. We also want him to be our goalkeeper so I hope it will be ready as soon as possible. I don’t think that we are going to have any problems.’

Harts words were covered earlier in the day about his new deal, and having joined us back in 2006 from Shrewsbury Town, he’s certainly gone on to prove the potential the club believed he had when bringing him in.

As for Milner, Pellegrini added.

‘I hope that Milner will also sign. The same as Joe, in the next few days. I don’t know how many days we can have this as official news. I suppose that he will sign and continue here because he also wants to stay.’

Having joined us from Aston Villa back in 2010, it was believed that Milner was stalling over concerns he had about involvement and the number of starting appearances he had last season, but he’s been heavily involved and drawn plenty of praise from the manager so far this campaign and presumably that has reassured him.
