Midfielder Frank Lampard has said that he doesn’t believe manager Manuel Pellegrini is under any additional pressure and he remains as calm as ever as we head into the final games of the season.

The Manchester Evening News have the former England man quoted as saying he doesn’t Pellegrini or the players are affected by the continuing doubts about the gaffer’s future at the club.

‘At a club like Man City – same as Chelsea – when you have a desire and a responsibility to be fighting at the top of the league year in, year out, I think players and managers are under pressure at all times. I don`t think there is much difference there. I certainly never get caught up in what might happen to the manager. It is irrelevant. You have to look at what you do yourself.’

Lampard goes on to say that regardless of results or speculation, Pellegrini continues to be his calm self around the club and the dressing room, focused on the game at hand or the one around the corner.

‘Manuel is very calm. You can see his nature. He is a very experienced and can handle all pressures. He`s got a good manner and it is very important as a top manager that you never look as if the pressure is getting to you – he certainly never gives us that vibe. I can`t complain at all how he`s been with me. He brought me to the club, he has been a pleasure to work with and he`s a very good man.’

As for recent form and results, Lampard went on to say it’s not a case of pointing the finger at the gaffer or at individual players, the team simply haven’t been at their best and we’ve been punished for it at times and it’s something that everyone has to deal with and improve on together – scapegoats don’t help.

‘He`s a very experienced manager – a very good manager – and I don`t think there is any finger-pointing at any individual for the recent form. It is very much a collective thing. I`ve enjoyed working under him. I don`t think you can ever make too many calls or judgements at this stage of the season. Judgements will be made at the end of the season and that is fair enough. At the moment I don`t think it is time to look at players and ask whether this player or that player, or the manager, will be here next year. I think it is too early for that talk.’
