Manager Manuel Pellegrini has said that like all clubs, Manchester City do have options in the January transfer window and as of yet, he’s not ruling anything out.

With numerous injuries mounting especially in the forward departments, Pellegrini has already said he will be looking at his options in the market, but he’s gone in to a little bit more detail in a more recent interview with the MEN.

‘The transfer window in January is always an option for all the teams, and also for us. We decided to let Alvaro Negredo go because we had options to replace him in January. Of course, we have three strikers injured, it is an option for us to analyse, as we have important options and we will try to and one player we can’t replace is Sergio.’

Pellegrini goes on to say that before deciding anything he will assess the available options we have and if one fits then he’ll look to see if a deal can be done, but obviously just because he finds somebody that fits it doesn’t mean the club would be a willing seller as the January market especially is inflated and difficult to deal with.

Of course the press have already linked us with Swansea’s Wilfried Bony, Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke and even Newcastle’s Papiss Cisse and they are unlikely to be the last strikers we are linked with over the coming month.

With 18 year old Spaniard Jose Angel Pozo getting pitch time at the moment with our injury troubles, the manager added that it would be good for him to get the game time he is, but the role he’s trying to replace in effect – Sergio – isn’t his natural role and of course at his age we can’t just heap pressure on him as he has a long way to go in his own development, so the team can’t rely on him as we do Aguero, so Pellegrini knows that whilst given him game time given the opportunity he has now, he also has to shuffle the pack somewhat to find the best fit for the team as well and of course our goalscoring midfielders can come into that kind of fray.
