Workaholics (Pep certainly fits into that category) tend to have a shelf life far shorter than the average person, (burnout, including mental fatigue) so, when someone (Pep) thinks or talks about football at least every 30 minutes then it doesn’t take a genius to work out that at some point something will have to give.

City contract

Pep’s current three year deal runs for another 18 months. In addition we also know the club are eager to get him signed up on a new and lucrative (if it isn’t already) extension. Yippee, I for one want him to remain in position forever. I little optimistic I know.

Rest & recuperation

Prior to the Premier League 1-1 draw at Burnley on Saturday Guardiola authorised his staff, including the playing squad to take a break from the rigours and strains of day-to-day football. In other words they were advised to take in some well-earned R&R.

(Perhaps Pep has learnt from previous top-level positions?)

On a persona note I have to say the lads looked tired at Turf Moor and so the three day break should benefit everyone, including Pep. (The MCFC juggernaut return to training on Wednesday afternoon.)

Exhausted Guardiola…

After four years as Barcelona boss Pep said during his resignation press conference that it was time for him to take a rest.

‘I’ve always wanted short contracts because the demand at Barcelona is so big. I’ve lived that as a player at Barcelona. Four years is an eternity for a coach. I didn’t want a contract that would not allow me to take the decision I wanted to take.’

Bayern Munich

During his three years in Germany Pep announced midway through his final season that he would walk away once his contract expired.

Could lightning strike thrice?

As his City contract dwindles I have to ask whether lightening will strike thrice?
